The ALS industrial label printer range is available with both thermal transfer and direct thermal print options. Design professional labels using our LabelCraft labelling software and why not add a powered label rewinder to wind up those long print runs?
Industrial Label Printers from ALS
Thermal transfer printing is the technology used in the industrial label printers from ALS. This is widely accepted as the most reliable method of over-printing clear, readable text and for generating barcodes that scan every time. Our printers are compact, reliable and built for use in demanding environments. Variable information can be over-printed on labels on-demand, in a quick and reliable way, using easy to use label design software.
So, what is a thermal printer?
A thermal printer is a type of printer that uses a heated thermal printhead pressed against a medium to produce black text or images
How does a thermal printer work?
Thermal transfer printers use a plastic ribbon coated with a pigment “ink” and the heat generated by the dots in their print heads transfers the image onto the surface of the label. The so-called “ink” on the ribbon is really a wax or resin based substance, so it is dry to the touch immediately after printing. The amount of wax or resin (or combination of both) leads to the grade and suitability of the printer to print onto different label materials, such as paper, card or filmic materials e.g. clear PE, PP, PET, tyvek. The more resin content makes the image produced more stable and resilient to chemical/solvent spillage and resistant to scuffing and abrasive contact.
ALS supply all grades of ribbons and manufacture our own labels in-house, so we can offer great prices and quick delivery.
